Overview

The DEL-2031 is a step-down transformer, taking 220 V AC mains and delivering a 24 V AC secondary at up to 5 A, 120 VA.

On its own it only steps the voltage down - it has no rectifier or filter capacitor, so it can't power a DC stepper drive by itself. Paired with the TLP-04 rectifier and filter card, which is rated for transformer secondaries feeding drives in the 24-48 V class, this becomes a complete linear power supply: the transformer sets the voltage and current capacity, the TLP-04 rectifies it and supplies the bulk capacitance a stepper system draws on during acceleration.

120 VA is a modest rating, suited to one or two smaller drives rather than a machine with several axes running together - check the combined current draw of everything the supply will feed, including acceleration peaks, against the 5 A secondary rating.

For more current at the same voltage, the DEL-2523 delivers 24 V at 8.5 A from the same secondary voltage.

Questions

I've got a machine with several axes — will this cover them all?

Probably not — 120VA is a modest rating, suited to one or two smaller drives rather than several axes running together. Check the combined current draw of everything it'll feed, including acceleration peaks, against the 5A secondary rating.

Can this power a stepper drive on its own?

No — it only steps the voltage down. There's no rectifier or filter capacitor, so it needs pairing with the TLP-04 to build a complete DC supply.

Is there a higher-current option at the same 24V?
