Overview
The DEL-2122 is a step-down transformer, taking 220 V AC mains and delivering a 17.5 V AC secondary at up to 8.5 A, roughly 149 VA - the lowest secondary voltage in this range.
On its own it only steps the voltage down - it has no rectifier or filter capacitor, so it can't power a DC stepper drive by itself. Paired with the TLP-04 rectifier and filter card, this becomes a complete linear power supply: the transformer sets the voltage and current capacity, the TLP-04 rectifies it and supplies the bulk capacitance a stepper system draws on during acceleration. At 17.5 V this sits below the TLP-04's stated 24-48 V range, which is not a safety problem - the card's 63 V capacitors have plenty of headroom at this voltage - but it does mean less voltage reaches the drive, and a stepper's usable torque falls away faster at speed on a lower rail.
