Encoder cable, 3 meter
Encoder cable, 3 meter, for connecting a closed-loop stepper motor's encoder to its drive.
Overview
The EC1-030 is a 3 meter encoder cable, carrying the feedback signal from a closed-loop stepper motor's built-in encoder back to its drive.
A closed-loop system such as the SDW60 or SDW86 drive needs this connection to work at all - without it, the drive has no way to read the encoder pulses it uses to detect and correct missed steps, and the closed-loop function does nothing. This cable is sold separately from both the drive and the motor, so it needs ordering alongside them rather than assumed included.
3 meters suits a drive mounted reasonably close to the motor; for a longer run, the EC1-080 covers 8 meters instead. Running the encoder cable near a motor power cable over a long distance can pick up electrical noise, which is one reason the two are kept as separate cables rather than combined into one.
This is the encoder-side cable only - the motor's power leads are a separate connection, covered by the PC1-030 or PC1-080 power cable.

Questions
Does this come included when I buy the SDW60 or SDW86 drive?
No — it's sold separately from both the drive and the motor, so it needs ordering alongside them rather than assumed included.
Will the closed-loop feature still work without this cable, just less accurately?
No — it does nothing without it. Without this connection, the drive has no way to read the encoder pulses it uses to detect and correct missed steps.
3 meters is too short for my setup — is there a longer version?
Yes — the EC1-080 covers 8 meters instead.
