Encoder cable, 8 meter
Encoder cable, 8 meter, for connecting a closed-loop stepper motor's encoder to its drive.
Overview
The EC1-080 is an 8 meter encoder cable, carrying the feedback signal from a closed-loop stepper motor's built-in encoder back to its drive.
A closed-loop system such as the SDW60 or SDW86 drive needs this connection to work at all - without it, the drive has no way to read the encoder pulses it uses to detect and correct missed steps, and the closed-loop function does nothing. This cable is sold separately from both the drive and the motor, so it needs ordering alongside them rather than assumed included.
8 meters suits a drive mounted well away from the motor, such as in a separate control cabinet; for a shorter run, the EC1-030 covers 3 meters instead. At this length, routing away from motor power cables and any VFD wiring matters more than on a short run, since the encoder signal is low-level and picks up induced noise over distance.
This is the encoder-side cable only - the motor's power leads are a separate connection, covered by the PC1-030 or PC1-080 power cable.

Questions
My drive sits in a separate control cabinet away from the motor — will 8m actually reach?
Yes — that's specifically what this length suits, a drive mounted well away from the motor, such as in a separate control cabinet.
At this length, does how I route the cable matter more than on a short run?
Yes — routing away from motor power cables and any VFD wiring matters more here, since the encoder signal is low-level and picks up induced noise over distance.
8m is more than I need — is there a shorter option?
Yes — the EC1-030 covers 3 meters instead.
