Overview

This is a Siemens V20 variable frequency drive (model 6SL3210-5BB23-0UV0), rated 4 HP / 3.0 kW, taking a single-phase AC supply (200-240 V AC, 47-63 Hz) and outputting three-phase power to run a standard induction motor at variable speed. Rated input current is 32 A, output current 13.6 A - frame size C, cooled by a single fan.

It takes a 150% overload for 60 seconds, covers an output frequency range of 0 to 550 Hz, and offers linear, quadratic and multi-point V/f control plus flux current control (FCC), set up from its own built-in keypad with connection and application macros or over an RS-485 port running USS or Modbus RTU.

This is the ceiling of the single-phase-input side of the V20 range here - a three-phase-input version at the same 4 HP / 3.0 kW rating (6SL3210-5BE23-0UV0) also exists, drawing less current per phase on a three-phase supply instead. Beyond 3.0 kW, only the three-phase-input drives go further, up to 10 HP. Below it, the 1 HP, 2 HP and 3 HP single-phase models cover progressively lighter motors.

Does it include a braking resistor?

No. For frame sizes A-C (this model included), a braking resistor is an external, separately-fitted option via the dynamic braking module — not built in. The drive's own DC-link overvoltage trip (fault F2) protects it if one isn't fitted, but a sustained regenerative load needs the resistor to avoid tripping.

Is there a three-phase version at the same power, or should I go bigger?
