Overview

The M2868T035-14 is a NEMA 34 stepper motor with an 86mm flange, the lowest-current and lowest-torque motor in the 86mm-flange M-series group in this catalogue.

It draws 2.8 A per phase and holds 3.5 Nm / 35.7 kg-cm at standstill - useful where a NEMA 34 mounting flange is already fixed but the axis load doesn't call for the heavier M2864T065-14 or M2868T085-14. That current suits a Tstep-117X (1.2-7.0 A) drive with plenty of headroom.

Eight lead wires bring both halves of each phase winding out separately, so the motor can be wired in series for more torque at low speed or parallel for better torque at high speed.

For more torque in the same 86mm flange, the M2864T065-14 (6.5 Nm / 66.3 kg-cm) and M2868T085-14 (8.5 Nm / 86.7 kg-cm) step up in current and torque, sharing the same flange so a mount doesn't need to change if the load grows. All wire eight leads except the M2864T065-14, which uses a fixed four-wire arrangement.

Supplied by Tiny Controls in India.

Questions

Why 8 leads instead of the 4 some of your other NEMA 34 motors have?

Each phase winding's two halves are brought out separately, so you can choose the wiring yourself — series for more torque at low speed, or parallel for better torque at high speed — rather than having it fixed at the factory.

I've already got a NEMA 34 mount built, but my load is light — is this a reasonable fit?

Yes — that's specifically the case this suits, where the flange is already fixed but the axis load doesn't call for the heavier siblings.

What drive does this pair with?

A Tstep-117X (1.2-7.0A), with plenty of headroom at 2.8A.
