4.9 A
Holding torque
8.5 Nm \ 86.68 kg-cm

Overview

The M2868T085-14 is a NEMA 34 stepper motor with an 86mm flange, the highest-current and highest-torque motor in the 86mm-flange M-series group in this catalogue.

It draws 4.9 A per phase and holds 8.5 Nm / 86.7 kg-cm at standstill, suited to a heavily loaded axis where the M2868T035-14 (3.5 Nm / 35.7 kg-cm) or M2864T065-14 (6.5 Nm / 66.3 kg-cm) would be undersized. At 4.9 A it needs a drive with headroom above that figure - a Tstep-117X (1.2-7.0 A) or Tstep-168X (1.2-8.0 A).

Eight lead wires bring both halves of each phase winding out separately, so the motor can be wired in series for more torque at low speed or parallel for better torque at high speed.

For a lighter axis where 8.5 Nm / 86.7 kg-cm is more than needed, the M2864T065-14 and M2868T035-14 cover the same flange at lower current and cost; the M2864T065-14 additionally specifies a keyed 14mm shaft, useful where the coupling needs a positive drive.

Questions

Is this the top of your 86mm M-series range?

Yes — the highest-current and highest-torque motor in the group.

What drive do I need at 4.9A?

A Tstep-117X (1.2-7.0A) or Tstep-168X (1.2-8.0A) — needs headroom above that current.

Can I choose series or parallel wiring like the M2868T035-14?

Yes — the 8 leads bring both halves of each phase winding out separately, so you can wire series for more torque at low speed, or parallel for better torque at high speed.

If 8.5 Nm is more than my axis needs, what's a lighter option in the same flange?

The M2864T065-14 or M2868T035-14, both at lower current and cost. The M2864T065-14 additionally has a keyed 14mm shaft, useful where the coupling needs a positive drive.
