Overview
The TD-32 is a step-down transformer, taking 220 V AC mains and delivering a 45 V AC secondary at up to 12 A, roughly 540 VA - the highest power rating in this range, at the top of the voltage the TLP-04 card is rated for.
On its own it only steps the voltage down - it has no rectifier or filter capacitor, so it can't power a DC stepper drive by itself. Paired with the TLP-04 rectifier and filter card, rated for transformer secondaries feeding drives in the 24-48 V class, this becomes a complete linear power supply: the transformer sets the voltage and current capacity, the TLP-04 rectifies it and supplies the bulk capacitance a stepper system draws on during acceleration. At 45 V this is close to the TLP-04's practical ceiling - if the application needs more voltage than that, the TLP-05 and its higher-voltage transformer, the TD-31, are the pairing instead.
540 VA suits a machine running several drives together at close to the maximum voltage the TLP-04 card supports.
