TNC-G12D Stepper Motor Pulse Generator
Standalone single-axis pulse generator with a frequency display and external speed/acceleration potentiometers, jumper-set for four manual modes, generating step pulses to 60 kHz.
Overview
The TNC-G12D is the TNC-G12 pulse generator with a frequency display added, for setups where seeing the actual step rate matters — commissioning a new axis, or working out why a motor is missing steps at a particular speed.
Where the G12 fixes starting speed and acceleration to onboard presets, the G12D brings both out to external potentiometer connectors, so they can be adjusted from a panel front without opening the enclosure. The two run inputs, IN1 and IN2, take Start CW/Start CCW, Start/Stop plus Direction, or a plain Start-Stop pair, selected by mode jumpers JP1 and JP2 — the same four combinations as the G12. A third input, IN3, is reserved for an emergency or limit switch. All three inputs are opto-isolated.
It generates step pulses up to 60 kHz, selectable across three jumper-set ranges, with the pulse train ramping linearly between starting and maximum speed so the motor does not stall at the top of the range. Outputs are differential step and direction, for direct connection to a stepper or servo drive.
It runs from 8-24 V DC at up to 2.5 W, and shares the G12's 70 x 40 mm, 20 g footprint.
If the display and external pots are not needed, the plain TNC-G12 is the same board without them, at a lower price.

Why would I pay more for this over the plain TNC-G12?
Two things: a frequency display for seeing the actual step rate — useful when commissioning a new axis or working out why a motor is missing steps at a particular speed — and external potentiometer connectors for speed and acceleration, adjustable from a panel front.
Can I adjust speed and acceleration without opening the enclosure?
Yes — unlike the G12, which fixes them to onboard presets, this brings both out to external pot connectors.
Does it top out at the same frequency as the TNC-G12?
No — this one goes up to 60 kHz across three jumper-selectable ranges, higher than the G12's 40 kHz across four ranges.
Are the run-input jumper options the same as the G12?
Yes — the same four combinations via mode jumpers JP1 and JP2 (Start CW/Start CCW, Start/Stop plus Direction, or a plain Start-Stop pair).
If I don't need the display or external pots, is there a cheaper option?
Yes — the plain TNC-G12 is the same board without them, at a lower price.
