Overview

The TS-12 is a 700 W air-cooled spindle for general routing and light milling, sized for small to mid-size CNC routers.

It runs at 10,000-20,000 rpm and takes tooling through an ER11 collet, a common size for router bits up to about 6-8 mm shank. The body measures 75x78 mm and is 190 mm long, weighing 1.5 kg - light enough for a moving-gantry router.

Power is 700 W, drawn from a 220 V three-phase supply at 4.0 A through a variable frequency drive sized for the motor; the VFD's output frequency sets the running speed within the rated range.

Being air-cooled, it needs unobstructed airflow around the body and is not suited to fully enclosed spindle housings without ventilation - where that is a constraint, the water-cooled TS-19 covers the same power and speed range in a sealed jacket instead.

I want to enclose this in a sealed spindle housing to keep dust out — is that OK?

No — it's air-cooled and needs unobstructed airflow around the body, so it isn't suited to a fully enclosed housing without ventilation. If a sealed enclosure is a hard requirement, the TS-19 covers the same power and speed range but is water-cooled instead.

Is this good for general routing, or is it more of a fine-detail engraving spindle?

General routing and light milling is exactly what it's for — sized for small to mid-size CNC routers, not fine engraving work.

What router bit shank size does the collet take?

An ER11 collet, a common size for router bits up to about 6-8 mm shank.
