TS-23 2.2KW Water Cooled Spindle ER20

2.2 kW water-cooled AC spindle, 10,000-24,000 rpm, ER20 collet, 80 mm dia x 230 mm, 5.45 kg.

Power
2.2 kW
Speed
10000 - 24000 rpm
Collet
ER20 Chuck

Overview

The TS-23 is a 2.2 kW water-cooled spindle sharing its power, body size and speed range with the air-cooled TS-22, but fitted with an ER20 collet for larger-shank tooling than the TS-22's ER16.

It runs at 10,000-24,000 rpm. The body is 80 mm in diameter and 230 mm long, weighing 5.45 kg. Power is 2.2 kW, drawn from a 220 V three-phase supply at 10 A through a variable frequency drive sized for the motor; the VFD's output frequency sets the running speed within the rated range.

Water cooling needs a closed loop with a radiator or small chiller plumbed to the spindle jacket, but holds a steadier temperature under continuous heavy cutting than a fan-cooled body of the same size - relevant here because the larger ER20 collet is generally paired with heavier cuts than the ER16 TS-22.

Where fan cooling is preferred and the smaller collet is enough, the TS-22 gives the same power and speed range with an ER16 collet instead.

Supplied by Tiny Controls in India.

Questions

Why is the ER20 version water-cooled when the ER16 TS-22 at the same power is air-cooled?

The larger ER20 collet is generally paired with heavier cuts, and water cooling holds a steadier temperature under continuous heavy cutting than a fan-cooled body of the same size — relevant given that pairing.

If I'd rather skip the coolant loop, is there an air-cooled option at the same power?

Yes — the TS-22 gives the same power and speed range with an ER16 collet (smaller shank capacity) instead, air-cooled.

What am I actually plumbing this into?

A closed loop with a radiator or small chiller plumbed to the spindle jacket.

What shank size does the ER20 collet actually add over ER16?

Larger-shank tooling than the TS-22's ER16 — the reason to pick this over that one when tooling size is the deciding factor.

What's needed to power it?

2.2 kW from a 220 V three-phase supply at 10 A, through a VFD.
