Tstep-484 Stepping Driver
Compact two-phase stepper drive, 18-48 V, 0.7-4.0 A jumper selectable, with microstepping.
Overview
The Tstep-484 is the entry point to the Tstep range, sized for smaller machines and lighter motors.
It runs from 18-48 V with output current set by jumper from 0.7 A to 4.0 A — a range that suits NEMA 17 and smaller NEMA 23 motors, which is most of what a desktop router, engraver or small feeder needs. The lower current floor of 0.7 A matters on small motors: setting a drive well above a small motor's rated current is a common way to cook it.
Step and direction inputs are optically isolated. Idle current reduction lowers the standing current when the axis is stationary, and short-circuit protection covers a shorted or mis-wired motor lead.
If the machine needs more voltage headroom to hold torque at speed, the Tstep-087 range runs to 80 V.

Which motors suit the Tstep-484?
Motors rated at 4.0 A per phase or below — NEMA 17 and smaller NEMA 23 frames. Set the drive current to the motor's rated phase current, never above it.
What microstep settings does it offer?

Is 48 V enough?
For a small machine, yes. Higher supply voltage preserves torque at higher step rates, so if your axes run fast, look at the 80 V Tstep-087 range instead.
